Excellence in Manufacturing Strategies, Practices and Techniques will NOT sustain World Class results - whether it is under the banner of Lean (waste free) Manufacturing, Work Process Re-Engineering, Technical System Upgrades, Team Culture or Healthy Workplace programs -- long term success depends on the ability of front-line leaders to gain the commitment and engagement of their people.

Failure to sustain improvement efforts is more common than you think - *most* operational improvement initiatives do not achieve their goals - a hard truth when you consider the huge investment organizations are making. Some start out well and then get sidetracked, many are bogged down by resistance, others do not have the leadership support they need and some simply fade away after the initial launch. Regardless of the reason people on the shop floor have become cynical and wary of future change efforts.

"Leadership creates an organizational culture and infrastructure that aligns the company’s mission, strategy and policy to deploy lean/world-class practices and achieve world-class results."

from Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing

If you are starting an operational improvement program - or
"re-starting" one that did not "stick"- we have an exciting new program that may just be exactly what you need.

Questions to think about:

Is your leadership team aligned on the importance, leadership style and implementation strategies needed to sustain the improvement effort?

Do your front-line leaders have the leadership style, facilitation skills and motivational tools they need to fully engage and involve people in the improvement effort?

Do your employees feel listened to, respected, involved and able to influence the implementation and ongoing success of the improvement effort?

Have you put in place the follow-through mechanisms to ensure that problems are solved quickly and that people's ideas and suggestions are listened to and implemented in a timely and effective manner?

Changing how manufacturing systems operate is difficult - changing the way *people* operate is even more difficult! Simply putting in new procedures doesn't make them happen - and no matter how often you communicate if the message is perceived as "top down" resistance builds.

After 20 years of working with manufacturing organizations in the area of leadership and participation we've learned that the only way to change behaviour is to let people get their hands dirty - to learn new tools and techniques in a hands on fashion instead of from a book.

Sustaining Business Results is a one day simulation that successfully teaches operational managers and front-line leaders the tools they need to implement and sustain improvement efforts.

Learning to Implement Business Improvements

Participants will experience setting up a production organization then using an action learning model they will analyze, improve and rerun their operation. By leading a continuous improvement process they will be able to dramatically increase measureable results.

Learnings in the areas of clear leadership direction, communication, alignment, motivation, engagement and empowerment are applied in real-time to improve the operation. This fun and face paced day has a lasting impact that ensures retention and application back at their own workplaces.

Participants will learn to sustain continuous improvement initiatives of all sorts as they:

  • Align leadership and business strategies
  • Focus on customer and business results
  • Ensure accountability and exceptional performance
  • Engage people in a shared leadership model
  • Build a team based work culture
  • Facilitate ongoing improvement and change
  • Implement and measure their effectiveness

Continuous Improvement

Experiential Learning Advantage

Lessons are learned in "real-time". Personal insights and breakthrough learning happen when people are engaged in doing (not from textbooks or presentations!).

We learn: 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we say, 90% of what we say and do"
-
Dr. Vernon A. Magnesen

Participants get to test drive new ideas and tools and assess for themselves which ones are best to take back and apply to their own challenges. Facilitated debriefs, case examples and presentations enable participants to understand the underlying forces and factors that create high performance.  The tools and concepts learned can be immediately applied to back home challenges and new work systems initiatives.

If you are responsible for implementing continuous improvement initiatives of any sort this is one workshop you cannot afford to miss.

Who Should Attend this Workshop

This program is ideally suited for operations managers, business and support department heads, front-line supervisors, change team leaders and HR / training managers.
